I recently got hold of Henri Locard's Pol Pot's Little Red
Book. Locard put together an extensive collection of commonly repeated sayings (mostly
Khmer Rouge propaganda slogans) from the Pol Pot time. Khmer
Rouge regime committed crimes against humanity on an epic scale
and have become synonymous with the terror of ‘communism’. They were
supported by Chinese; Chinese even went to war with Vietnam over this.
My favorites from the book-
"To destroy you is no loss; to preserve you is no
gain."
“The revolution shines in its entire splendor in a society
with radiant joy, and we all wear sandals fashioned out of automobile tires.”
“Secretly observe the slightest deeds and gestures of
everyone around you!”
“Stick to the four precepts: do not know, do not hear, do
not see, do not speak.”
“Hands off the people’s property! Not a single grain of rice,
a single chili, a single needle!”
